OpenURLs: the basics - new UKeiG factsheet

OpenURLs have been around for some time when they were invented to help address the problem of seamless access to full text and other resources. The OpenURL standard means that there is a universally understood syntax to improve access to high quality material. OpenURLs provide linkages to “target” resources (whether full text, or a Library catalogue or other service determined by the library to be appropriate and available to the user).

What they are, how they work and a guide to the terminology. Author: Robert Bley.

Factsheets are available to UKeiG members at: http://www.ukeig.org.uk/members/access/factsheets/index.html
