Top 10 Search Tips

UKeiG members may be interested in the Top 10 Search Tips that arose out of a recent workshop that I ran on Advanced Internet Search Strategies at Manchester Business School. Participants were from the commercial sector, charities and the NHS and it turned out to be a very lively day. The group came up with an unusual Top 10, in particular number 1 which is "It isn't you!". All is revealed on my blog.

Discontinuation of UKOLUG domain names

The UK Online User Group changed its name in December 2004 to the UK eInformation Group (UKeiG). As part of this change the Group's web site URL was changed from www.ukolug.org.uk to http://www.ukeig.org.uk/. Until now, we have retained the UKOLUG domain names and redirected them to the new ukeig.org.uk site. However, we shall soon be discontinuing the use of the UKOLUG domains.

Could I ask all of you to:

1) Check your email contact/address books and ensure that you have Christine Baker, our admin person, as cabaker@ukeig.org.uk

2) Check any pages for which you are responsible and which may have links to UKOLUG/UKeiG. Please ensure that all links go to http://www.ukeig.org.uk/ or the relevant directory/file at ukeig.org.uk

Thanks

Karen Blakeman
